Candidate Information

This guide outlines the different stages involved in the ITBP recruitment process.

Stage 1: Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

• What to Expect: You’ll participate in physical activities like running, jumping, etc. There’s no minimum qualifying score, but you must pass each event.
• Exemptions: Ex-servicemen are exempt from PET.

Stage 2: Physical Standard Test (PST)

• What to Expect: Your height, chest (for men only), and weight will be measured. Minimum requirements apply.
• Appeals Process: If you disagree with the measurements, you can appeal to the presiding officer on the same day.
• Female Candidates: Measurements are done by female staff and chest measurement is not required.
• Weight Discrepancy: Being underweight or overweight won’t disqualify you at this stage, but your fitness will be determined during the detailed medical examination.

Stage 3: Written Examination (100 Marks)

• Preparation: The exam consists of objective type multiple-choice questions. You can download the syllabus and exam pattern from the official website (recruitment.itbpolice.nic.in).
• Exam Duration: 2 hours
• Important Rules: No electronic devices like mobiles or calculators are allowed. There’s no negative marking.
• Minimum Qualifying Marks: The cut-off percentage for written exam varies based on your category (UR, EWS & Ex-servicemen: 35%, SC/ST/OBC (NCL): 33%).

Stage 4: Merit List and Document Verification

• Merit List: Based on your written exam score, a merit list will be prepared for each category.
• Document Verification: Shortlisted candidates will be called for document verification. Ensure you have all the required documents like educational certificates, caste certificates (if applicable), ID proof, etc. (Refer to the table above for the complete list).

Stage 5: Detailed Medical Examination (DME)

• What to Expect: Only candidates who clear document verification will undergo a medical examination to assess their fitness for the job.
• Review Medical Examination (RME): If you’re declared unfit in DME, you can opt for an RME by submitting written consent. The RME board’s decision is final.
