These criteria, outlined in Para 14.2 of the Notice of Examination, ensure a fair chance for candidates from diverse backgrounds.
Normalization and Merit Calculation
The SSC uses a normalization process, as per Para 12.1.5, to ensure fairness in scoring due to variations in difficulty across different exam sessions. This process, along with bonus marks for candidates with NCC certificates (as detailed in Para 14.3), determines the final merit list. The bonus marks for NCC certificates are:
- NCC ‘C’ Certificate: 5% of the maximum marks
- NCC ‘B’ Certificate: 3%
- NCC ‘A’ Certificate: 2%
However, these bonus marks are not applicable to Ex-Servicemen candidates.
